馬穆在遙遠的地方工作，某天接到家鄉傳來妻子出走的消息，要他儘快返家。回家後，沒人願意告訴他發生了什麼事，但鄙視的眼光和八卦流言卻沒停過，直到發現了一具疑似妻子的屍體，才終於挽回他的名譽。然而葬禮結束後，有人告訴他又在別的地方見到他太太。這下事情嚴重了，他該如何處置「失而復得」的妻子？要休妻還是殺妻？本片以曲折離奇的情節，勇敢地碰觸伊朗社會禁忌，震撼力十足。

Mahmoud works in the railroad company learns of the disappearance of his wife who has a record of mental illness. He comes back to Tehran to look for her. Neighbors start to make his life impossible with their interferences. This film is the story of the struggle of the Iranian young generation with the taboos of their society.
