The 8th Taipei Film
Festival (TFF) will be running from 24 June
2006 for two-week, showing around 150 films.
This is the fifth year the TFF to tell the
tales of two cities and this time of Toronto
and Montreal - one country, two linguistic
systems.
While
yearly retreat to Brokeback Mountain may
sound too infrequent, TFF has a selection of
other destinations for the gay&lesbian film
audience –from Philippines the 2006 Berlin
Teddy Award winner The Blossoming of Maximo
Oliveros by Auraeus Solito, Innocent by Hong
Kong-based Simon Chung and from France
Crustacés et coquillages by Olivier Ducastel
and Jacques Martineau starring Jean-Marc
Barr (The Big Blue, Dancer in the Dark) and
Valeria Bruni Tedeschi (Tickets).
As no film festival is complete without
presenting awards, filmmakers are invited to
submit their works
to compete in Taipei Grand Award
(accepts local submission only) and
International New Talent Competition. The
two awards have always been the strongest
booster to domestic cinema, particular with
this year’s double-million reward to award
winners (NTD one million to each winner).
Filmmakers should not miss the deadlines for
Taipei Grand Award and Taipei Image Award
which would be on or before 28 March 2006'';
while submissions for International New
Talent Competition should reach TFF on or
before 10 April 2006.
