International New Talent Competition line-up
announced
The
International New Talent Competition is
Taiwan’s only international film competition
of feature films, competing films must be
directors’ first or second 35mm feature
film. This is the second year of the
competition and with this year’s raised
award price to NTD 1million for the Grand
Prize winner, and NTD 350,000 to Special
Jury Prize winner, the competition received
118 submissions worldwide, among which 12
would be competing in the Festival.
As
the name suggests, almost half of the
competing directors are under 30 years of
age. And yet they all possess such masterly
skills to display their intense creativity
in images as well as in subject matters in
their works.
It is worth mentioning that our local new
talent Cheng Yu-Chieh is among the twelve
competing directors with his debut Do Over
starring Tuo Zong-Hua, Ko Yu-Luen, Shu
An-An, Mo Tzu-Yi. They all made impressive
appearance in the film.
All competing directors would all appear in
the Festival and meet the audience after the
screenings.
The 8th TFF will be running from 24 June to
9 July 2006. Festival venues are Chungshan
Hall, The Metropolitan, in 89 Digital Cinema
and Shin Kong Cineplex. Ticket sales start
on May 27th, 2006.
