Taiwan New Power

 2006/07/03

The joint press conference for upcoming Taiwanese films was held by the Taipei Film Festival at Shin Kong Cineplex this Sunday, which captured many domestic and overseas film workers and fans. The conference also features some splendid preview clips from three Taiwanese films which are still in production: Etude, Eternal Summer and Miss Avon.
Chen Wuai-en, Director of Etude, is a senior cinematographer. He was inspired to direct his own film by the saying "Go for it now, or NEVER". Chen hopes the film can go public next spring to share the results of their hardworking for more than four months, and four-and-a-half circuits around Taiwan.
Director Leste Chen manages to explore the experience of teenagers growing up in the '90s with his latest feature Eternal Summer. Leste is very satisfied with the performance of the two actors, and he spoke highly of Joseph Chang for his appeal in front of the camera. No wonder actor Chang Zuei-jia fell for him in this film. In fact, Chang Zuei-jia's performance is so convincing that the staff even questioned his sexual orientation.
Director Michelle Chu spent more than three years traveling between Taiwan and Japan, trying to capture all the details and touching moments of Miss Avon. She expects to finish this documentary next year. Avon the leading role also showed up and sweetly she said "Well, didn’t I look quite cute on screen?"
Documentary director Yang Li-chou also brought his latest documentary-like commercial Joy shot for NIKE. He shared his experience shooting this commercial and exchange thoughts with audiences about the possibilities of documentary being a rising industry in Taiwan.
