Cold Showers Tops the International New
Talent Competition 2006/07/01
The
1 Million-dollar Grand Prize winner of the
Taipei Film Festival was announced today.
After one week of intensive screenings, the
jury of the International New Talent
Competition, which consists of five
world-class directors: Hou Hsiao-hsien,
Jean-Marc Vallée, director of the opening
film C.R.A.Z.Y., Laurent Cantet (Heading
South) from France, Zhang Yuan (Little Red
Flowers) from mainland and Hong Kong’s Pang
Ho-cheung (Isabella) held a meeting to
decide the winner, and the award ceremony
was held on July 1st in ZhongShan Hall.
Cold Showers, from France, won the
appreciation of all jury members and was
selected as this year’s best picture.
28-year-old Belgian director Fien Troch won
the
Special Jury
Prize and premium of
350,000 NTD with her film Someone Else’s
Happiness. Also from Belgium, Iceberg won
the Audience’s Choice Award.
